Fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) — single-photon or multiphoton Micro@CNIC Madrid

FLIM- Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy

About the Installation

Measures the fluorescence decay rate, providing information on the molecular microenvironment (pH, Ca2+, quenching) independent of intensity.

How this lab uses this technology

We train internal and external to the use of FLIM and phasor analysis to study cellular metabolism, endogenous autofluorescence, drug disposition, and tissue physiology in live cells and biological specimens, providing sensitive and non-invasive functional information at the microscopic level. We welcome collaborative projects on FLIM applications.

Lab-specific experience

Started in 2008, our present FLIM platform is based on three confocal-2photon microscopes that combines time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC), white laser multicolor FLIM and phasor analysis with confocal imaging.
